Riportiamo l'articolo apparso su Motorcycle consumer news di aprile 2009 scritto da Gary Pricket sul nostro modello VT498S Marathon:
DURING FOUR DECADES of motorcycle riding, I have worn out or discarded multiple pairs of boots, beginning with a set provided by Uncle Sam upon my arrival at boots camp and working up to models specifically intended for riding. During that time, I have been on the lookout for a pair of boots that can satisfy my wish list of essential comfort and protection features. Not long ago, I purchased a pair of Vendramini Marathon Steel Touring Boots possessing attributes that may bring my long quest to an end. An ad in a magazine sent me to the Internet to learn more about Vendramini and its products. This Italian company envolved into the production of ski boots early on in its long history, and in 1961 introduced the world's first line of boots designed specifically for motorcycling. I was attracted to the boots by their handsome and purposeful appearance and to finally purchase a pair by theri comfort and protection features. Ski-boot like ratcheting closures on the foot and ankle provide for size adjustment in increments of 2.5mm, while the upper part of the boot is closed by Velcro. Protection is provided by carbon fiber armor at the toe and heel, while flexible steel mesh protects both sides of the ankle and shin. A proprietary 1/4" plastic layer between the inner and outer pure rubber sole resists lateral crushing. Walking comfort is provided by flexible leather inserts at the front and back of the ankle, and anhanced by a chamfered heel edge that mitigates the Fred Munster-like walk caused by many thick soled boots. They are made from high-quality real leather 2.8mm thick, with double stitching at every seam, rather than a synthetic substitute material. The boots are waterproof by virtue of a proprietary V-Tex Hydro Stop membrane similar in cocept to Gore-Tex. To enhance their all weather comfort, the boots also feature an Outlast phase change layer. This material works to release heat when it's hot and retain heat when it's colder than body temperature, and makes a big difference to one's year-round comfort. The boots come with removable insoles made of coconut fiber overlaid with leather to provide a cushion to the already plush interior construction, increae thermal insulation and dissipate condensation. These are, by far, the most comfortable and feature-laden motorcycle boots I have ever owned. At $399 they are not cheap, but have proven to be well worth the investment in comfort, safety and good looks.
